You can’t blame them for leaving.  I would want to get out of NY and NJ too.
The best to be is a cottage on a tiny island on a lake and just ride it out.

Unless they are already infected without symptoms and they bring it to that island which may not have the facilities to deal with the ensuing outbreak.

FWIW, same for other vacation areas, the east end of LI is said to be like summer crowds/traffic. Even here in CT anyone who had kids living in NYC has them back home again now. Manhattan is said to look like a ghost town.

….    To even think that the limited Police and Fire departments that our tax dollars are paying for should be overworked, because of uncaring individuals from some other part of our state, who may well introduce an another area in our towns  where these limited resource will be challenged  for me does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling ….

In connection with the above, it was interesting to read a statement issued by the Nantucket Cottage Hospital in which it advised out-of-towners and part-time residents to "stay off the island to avoid a potential dire scenario for our community and staff"

Blunt and to the point.

In North Carolina the beaches are closed and nonresident  homeowners aren't allowed.

And that is totally illegal, but many of the official rules here days are totally illegal.

On the OBX the only hospital doesn't have an ICU so they can't have somebody with the virus come in, no one else will be able to get care.

So what happens when one of the surf guys has a heart attack?

major glitch in the system is how long it is taking to get test results. 72 hours plus...up to five days in some cases. to my knowledge, DPH is the only ones who are analyzing tests...not sure why they haven't gotten Quest or other labs involved by now

When we judge or criticize another person, it says nothing about that person;
it merely says something about our own need to be critical.
