Drive through COVID-19 testing @ Jones Beach

New York state is looking to open up another drive-through coronavirus testing facility, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a press call this morning.

“We’re looking at Jones Beach on Long Island as a possible site. We need a large, open area. Jones Beach has large open parking lots that are available. So we’re looking at Jones Beach literally this morning as a possible location for the next drive-through,” Cuomo said.
  • Do we lose access to all fields including West End if they setup test center?
  • Or the govt will allow fishermen to pass through/access the fields?
  • If the govt allows, how many of us will get the courage to go fishing in that area?

Minor inconvinence could save a few life, maybe your own.  If you are one of those just flu with cough guys, just go right in, what are you afraid off?

If they could get everyone in NY tested, take the whole damn shore line!

Prefer your Dr. office or the hospital for testing but hey why not Jones beach?

It's got a bunch of areas closed already for ...cuomo.

you mean trying to infect other unsuspected patient or staff?  Normally I would fight beach closing, but this is more than fishing, more than political affiliation really.

No. I mean dont bring that **** to the beach.

Containment man. The medical staff knows the consequences.

There are 5 fishing areas in the Jones Beach complex. They can't shut them all down. However as any Long Islander knows, any major event at the beach will cause gridlock on all the access roads. Head somewhere else to go fishing.

The idea is to direct any suspected cases away from the hospital, clinics, so they could treat other stuff like the flu.  Minimized chance of cross infection to buy us more time.  There is no stopping this thing now,  flatten the infection curve, buy more time.

Kinda like burring their heads in their ass.

Jones is the best place for medical advice.

I don't understand how would we loose access to Field #9 if test center is set up on WE Field #2?

We2 ain't what it used to be.

Yes

And I am sure people in 80's were saying the very same thing, comparing to 60's.

And, looks like, the way fishing is going,  people in 2050's would say same thing

"Fishing Jones is not what used to be 30 years ago"

Right now, I am happy to have a place like that, go down, relax, walk by  water, get my feet and my, old, balls, wet, bread air, throw plugs/bait and maybe catch a fish or two as a bonus.

Maybe  is a key word.

I am afraid, maybe in 20 -30 years people will think that this was a dream.

I am afraid for future generations; they will not have what we had.
