I'm gonna get my first trout this year. Also want to catch and cook a blowfish for the first time. I've caught a lot of "big fish" but this year I've got the smaller guys in my crosshairs.

Go to Lake Erie in November. Cast rapalas from the shore at night.

1. fish as much as I can

2. finish painting about 200 jigs

3. learn how to tie a decent bucktail

4. look for retirement destinations with great fishing and low fishing pressure

You mean on his own equipment, and his own effort??? I think if someone else sets things up for him he does pretty good, at least from my limited knowledge.....

I can't afford any of my bucket list this year, or probably ever. But, I'd be darn happy with a few drum next week...

Yes thank you for clarifying

If the blowfish show up the way they did last year, you should be in luck.  In my area, bigger fish were closer to the inlet, with smaller fish all over the bay.  The bigger blowfish were very reachable from the beach where I was catching them.  Try dredging them in flour, then an egg wash, coat them with panko breadcriumbs and then deep-fry.  Tried that for the first time last year, and it worked out very well.

Hopes for 2020:

1)  Flyfish more.  In particular for mahi, plus figure out how to get a fly down to black sea bass on the shallower wrecks.

2)  Go tilefishing.  Always wanted to, but never convinced anyone to take a ride out to the edge with me, unless I was targeting tuna.  Hopefully, that will change,.

3)  Figure out how to target monkfish on hook and line.

4)  Help researchers put satellite tags on a few makos.

5)  Find some immature white sharks for the researchers I work with.
