I purchased a Harbor Freight utility belt as my surf belt.. It is about a quarter of an inch thick and three inches wide.. What I had to do is coat it with saddle soap to condition and waterproof the leather...

Dive weight belt with stainless steel flip buckle. Like 18 bucks or something.  Works fantastic.  Buckle can be removed fast one-handed in case of emergency when you need to ditch the gear.  Also, since the buckle simply tightens up wherever you close it....it's great as you gain weight or lose weight....if you have on an extra sweater or just a t-shirt...get it to the right tension effortlessly.  I should also add that I have my entire

Flatlander three-tube on the belt as I have shoulder straps.  Don't know why anyone would spend more than $18, but knock yourself out. Whatever works for you.

I went from a aquaskinz belt to a tiderunner.  I wanted to support someone local.  I also could have easily gone with the ODM, I think that is a fantastic belt as well.
