Was looking to pick up a spinning rod that can handle dropping down and jigging up to 16 ounces. Mainly to switch up arms. Lol. Was originally looking to get an United Composites 700m but now I’m looking at the 73mh charter special. Would love to here people’s opinions on its capabilities and experience with it.

I have the spiral wrapped MH charter special and use it for heavy lead and jigs and used 16oz w/o a problem. I’ve caught a few 15-20lb cod on jigs and it handled them easily.

Thanks for the reply. What do you feel the sweet spot and top end are for the rod?

I just pulled the trigger on the spinning. Think it will be perfect for what I want it for and will be great for my 10 yo son to use when I take him sea bass fishing this year.
