Mike Oliver
Sweetwater We are currently enjoying storm Dennis in England. With winds that a 5 Oz lead will not penetrate. Looks like you have those magical conditions typically found in what are supposed to be our summers. LOL. Kind of cool that I will be with you. Thanks Tight lines mike
jimmy z
1 hour ago, Mike Oliver said: Hi Sweetwater. Yep aware of the oil and that you want to take out the blocks. Experimenting with different oils should help. Very thin oils and no blocks normally spells disaster. What you are attempting is pretty difficult. Tough even when rod is matched well to casting load. In tournaments over here some of the guys will go for broke on one cast and try to get a huge cast away with a minimally controlled reel. One tiny block and thin oil. If cast is perfect they might get away with it. You must have a very well educated thumb. For most of us use of a thumb on a big cast screws it up. You must have a very smooth cast to. Hope you find a consistent solution. Mikr That's what I use Mike, one block and thin oil. And I have an educated thumb. Lol One also has to understand, that they will only go so far with a lighter load. Mike Oliver
Jimmy That is oh so true. We have to adjust our expectations and then mostly all will be well. With very light plugs the temptation is to go to a spin reel. But where is the fun in that. mike

Sweetwater
Mike, My friends are not allowed to handle my reels. I will loan them out after I have put them back together. They agree that this is a good idea. I have become too old to drink bourbon on the rocks. I will still drink it in the parking lot.
