Probably not what you're thinking.

No committees, none of this “Caught the biggest cow/beast/slunger ever on it!”, no “Made of unobtanium developed by Russian rocket scientists that I had to smuggle into the country in my ... ”  Nope, nothing like that.

Plugs (or tins or BTs or whatever has a hook in it) that make you pause.  Maybe you scratch your head in wonder.  Maybe you think “Jeez, *that’s* pretty darned [good/stupid/creative/AFU/etc.].”  Maybe you just laugh.

You create whatever category you like, or you can add any plug to a pre-existing category.  (If you create a new category, please number it and use all caps, so we can find it quickly in the future.  If you're adding an entry, be sure to note the category and number in which it belongs.)

PICS ARE MANDATORY.

Here's one to kick it off:

CATEGORY 1:  “How’n He11 did you do *that*?”

When this one showed up today, all I could do was wonder, “Did you drive over it with your truck?”
(Answer:  Apparently not, since A) that dark mark is brown, not black, and whatever it is, it isn’t rubber, and B) there’s no gravel, tar, or dirt embedded in the belly of the plug.)

Then I saw the bent through-wire under the lip.

I dunno.

I dunno.

I would bet that plug is a result of a hooked fish wedging it's head in the rocks during a fight in an attempt to rid itself of the plug.. The thinnest part of the wood in conjunction with the direction of the wood grain make this area of this plug the weak spot and it just snapped off after being wedged as the strength of the Z lip itself, due to the closely located lip bends, acts like a pry bar introducing leverage to the most vulnerable weakest area of the plug. I have seen similar results with other type plugs and have caught and seen many fish come in with bruised and bloody heads complete with mussel encrusted loose swinging trebles.. The tail wire was stretched, which is not unusual at all, and partly "pulled" into the lip slot as far as possible before the wood split That's my guess to what and how the damage happened

If you're serious, PM your address and I'll let you have your way with it.

got some stainless wire for it and not yet sure if i'll repaint the entire thing or I may make a yellow Rudolph out of it since I like the original shade of yellow.

repair plan is all on my inner clipboard so,will get after it asap then will share here with the results.

pshaw!  (I don't believe for a minute that you're worried about disappointing anyone, HH.)

As for the color, I like the original yellow as well.  Given that it's 20+ years old, the paint is solid.

HH, when I responded to your PM a minute ago, I said I thought it was a Gibbs Danny.Deep Diver:

BUT ...

Look at the eye.

I just looked at Bassdozer's Metal Lips page again (c'mon, am I the *only* one who's read it 20+ times?  OK, maybe I am.) and I think that you were correct in ID'g it as a Donny Troller by Musso:  This is the "Version 2" that Musso made:

donny-troller-large-yellow.jpg.403ed0c5b0ce0a181d8b126c9731c693.jpg

I think that it looks more like the wreck that I sent to you than "Version 1" (note the wider girth) does:

What do you all think?

(BTW, I think it's pretty darned cool that *maybe* a frikkin Musso Donny Troller (even a wrecked one) showed up in a box of old plugs!)

Now that I look at your pics again, maybe it *is* a Version 1.

In either case, I think that it would be a shame to cover the original paint and (what's left of) the original eyes.
