We are introducing new 7'9" Black Hole Challenger Bank UL (one-piece) and  8'6",9" and 9'5" Black Hole Suzuki UL ( two-piece) rods this year.

I have tested the Suzuki UL rods for coho salmon in Alaska and speckled trout in Virginia Beach.

Those rods are very light and sensitive.

You can cast 1/4 oz - 1 1/2 oz.

I tested 7'9" prototype Black Hole Challenger Bank UL rods for speckled trout today.

While I can cast 1/4 oz - 1/2 oz jigs without any problem, I felt it has more backbone than the Suzuki UL rods.

I think the 7'9" rod is very good for albie, striper, blue, big snook or average size drum.

I’m sure these are great rods but why do they come with a plain black foam grip that looks like it belongs on a Walmart rod?  Why not cork or a nice wrapped grip tape like other high end rods?

These going to be at striper day for sale?

I expect to get them by May. You might see the prototype rods at the shaws.

All high-end  Japanese rods have plain foam grips.

I like the contoured EVA foregrip, though not having exposed threads is nice. Def not grip tape...

Probably to keep cost down. Have a blank built up.

I got flat tire in Carolina last night. I planned to wait for day light to change the tire as it is dangerous in complete darkness.  Police came and offered to call a serviceman.

I got as temporary spare tire now and I have to buy a new tire. After getting it, I will resume driving for the next fishing destinations. :)
