Mystery fish

I have a strange question;  about twenty years ago I was fishing live eels late in rage season.  I think it was the week before Halloween.  I was fishing the Little Compton area.  I got two hits and no fish but the eels had the strangest marks on them.  Rather than bass scrape marks or bluefish cuts the eels had two spike marks on each of their heads.  I didn’t hook either of the mystery fish but have always wondered.   Any ideas.

Yeah, it sounds like it could have been a weakfish. Weakfish and specks both have vampire fangs.

If it was more of a hole, it was probably squid. They have beaks. They latch on with their tentacles and then drill out a hole. Squid are evil.
