Battle royale

1 post in this topic

Been chasing the bass with stripes of late.   Sunset was forecast to have a big drop in wind and a shift to the South.   The parking lot flag was ripping, but it was 53 degrees and the weather man said the wind would die down (it didn't).

Battling a 2 - 3 foot chop that seemed to come from every direction was daunting, but they were biting.   Hooked into a decent size fish and trying to get away from the pylons (in the current and chop), he somehow wrapped around my rudder.  Rudder was locked hard left and wouldn't budge or stow.   shore was about 500 - 600 yds away.  paddling hard on one side while peddling and doing the balancing act with the rod in the holder, eventually made it to shore and beached.    After unwrapping the braid from around the rudder, I still landed the fish.

Just another reason to never go alone.   Oh, the bass were FAT!
