As some pertinent background: Granite St got these from me and I got them from Maine Guide. Built as a matched set by Mike Thomas - differences beside the length and reel seat, one has silver highlight thread and the other gold - one fish faces up - one down. Gorgeous rods. They were spotless when I got them and I am sure they still are. Would still be mine but I had a chance to pick up 1322 and 1205 Arra customs from Ditch Jigger when he left for Finland that had a lot of Troll history (1322 was his and the 1205 used to belong to Bob Samuelson) just after I got these so they took a back seat and I found them a good home. Either one would cost you $400 to have built today. Great rods from a really decent guy

Regards

Ha!  I was just looking at those pictures thinking those were my old rods and then read down and see your post.  They were mint when I got them from Mike and I don't think I got more than a schoolie or two on either before I went almost completely to boat.  I did love the nice parabolic action of those GSB's.

thank you guys for the kind words and very much appreciate your additional history on those 2 rods

they really are a beautiful pair!! and still in great shape!

little context on why im selling.

couple years ago decided i wanted to learn conventional.

started in a field with bank sinkers and then chunking the beach, eventually getting good enough to start jigging the canal with the round reels and throwing some heavier plugs too.

really love the added control and power of the conventionals.

i bought a lot of used gear to find what i liked and finally settled on a 1261h  for the ditch and battalion and ocean master for 8+bait.

figured id try to move these on to another good home.

they are a joy to cast and fight fish with.

love them for bucktailing, drifting eels, and swimming plugs, etc.

nighttime wetsuiting gotta stick with the sealed spinning reels out of necessity.

thanks again guys and Happy Holidays!

Interested. Which one would you suggest for plugs?

sorry been out of town

honestly, i consider all 3 plugging / lure rods

ive thrown plugs, jigs / bucktails up to 3oz, and eels with all 3

i would not consider these chunking rods, total bait payloads 3-4oz would work just fine though, i threw unweighted chunks, but more so clams + worms + 2oz sinker with them also

at my current conventional skill level, i was throwing heavier wooden metal lips, BM Cowboys, GRS, and various trollers, along with Sebile Magic Swimmers

strictly for plugging, the Arra is a bit faster action, both GSBs more moderate, with 10ft vs 11ft user preference

if anyone has better insight than me on this question, feel free to chime in

thanks
