How deep for Cod

Now that the GOM is effectively closed to recreational cod anglers (or it was, when I last looked) what's the deepest waters which we fish for cod?

Wikipedia notes that cod can be found down to 600' but are usually found in 50 - 200' of water. That 200' is as deep as I've ever fished for them. Gents?

GOM in 2019 had a two week season for cod. Its not uncommon on the head boats in the GOM to fish them at over 300 feet down. Out at Cox's ledge off of RI we usually catch them in around 125 feet of water. During the winter around Block Island it's not unusual to catch them in water depths of 100 feet or even less.

The point is that I'm a little restless. Leg and back issues are keeping me ashore and largely housebound as the surf season winds down.

I've caught GOM cod from a rip at 20' to 350'.  Put yourself over a good spot and get your jigs down to the bottom and you'll catch...
