Looking to tour UNC Wilmington for a potential transfer. Want to get some fishing in while I'm there. Any tips? Would be this Winter or Early Spring.

You got Wrightsville Beach, closest beach to UNC-W - there is plenty of surf and Johnnie Mercer’s pier there.  Down to Carolina Beach you have Snows Cut, the beaches and several piers (several short now due to hurricanes).  You can drive north to Topsail, good beaches and three good piers.  Most have inlets that aren’t too hard to walk to.  Lots of free parking during the winter and all beaches are public.  There are a few public fishing spots on the Cape Fear in the Leland/Belleville area (across the river in Brunswick County.  There are a couple of public ponds in Wilmington folks bass fish in.  Go to Tex’s Tackle (across the street from Home Depot/Hampton Inn near the college) - get some current local pointers from those guys.  Good luck.  OH
