KK_Surf
Could some one let me know what will be the best epoxy for all weather conditions to build rod. I am from India, recently I have given my Penn rod to replace the guides to a friend of mine. Due to current weather conditions its came out sticky and brown in color in most of the guides. He needs to redo the epoxy coating in most of the guides. So please suggest a best epoxy for all time. Thanks, KK
ZAFisher
KK, Any idea what he used? The following are finishing epoxies: (they are not epoxy adhesives) Flex Coat Threadmaster Prokote Threadmaster + Prokote mix (my favourite) There are few others Perhaps your friend used an adhesive or even polyurethane varnish? frazerp
To follow up on ZA's epoxy advice search Billy V in the rod building section of SOL ... Morone Saxatilis... God put them in the Surf to take them, not in the freaking boat!

Sweetwater
Start with fresh stuff. If the epoxy was brown, it means the hardener had aged badly. He may have used the right product but it had turned on him. I have become too old to drink bourbon on the rocks. I will still drink it in the parking lot.
