Worked at a clam hatchery in mystic isle for couple years. We used to stack clams in bread trays when we cleaned them we would find them butterfly fish and sea horses. As I understand it tropical ride the gulf stream, northern winds clip and push little eddies in shore and these tropical can survive summer in shallower bays like great bay that warm up a lot in summer.
