Heathcare is a right

The "Squad" and Bernie and Warren all claim healthcare is a right.  The progs lap it up

Let's look at that and discuss it.

What is "healthcare"?

Isn't it  is someone else's  time and labor?

You have no ”right” to someone’s time or labor. That is called slavery.

Change my mind.

Yup.

Car washes too

This is that stolen labor AOC was complaining about.  I doubt she's smart enough to connect the dots, though

I do not believe it is a right.   However, a healthy population is paramount for a successful society.  In turn, I believe that the gov't should ensure the health of the population in the same manner in which it ensures the population's safety.  I'm not sold on single payer, don't like every aspect of the ACA, but don't think we should do nothing.  We already pay Medicare, we should be able to use it. Maybe have those interested pay a little more to utilize it earlier in life.  I also actually like Trump's idea of being able to purchase plans across state lines and businesses in unrelated industries purchasing plans together to lower premiums for their employees.

What happens when everything is declared a right so we all just stop working and decide to fish all day, every day?

BTW, no one is saying what the level or quality of that health care is.

I guess it's based on your interpretation of the three unalienable rights referred to in the Declaration, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Should life be more unalienable if you can afford to pay as opposed to if you can't?

I'm on the Board of Directors for our local Chamber of Commerce and this is one of the benefits of Chamber membership.  We have banded together with chambers across our state (Missouri) and a few in IL to purchase health insurance.  Since the majority of Chamber members represent small businesses, with not many employees, this has worked great.

basically where I am as well....

calling it a "right" just muddies up the water.....

If I get hit crossing the street and am in bad shape,

they aren't going to sit around waiting for proof of payment before they save my life.......

if that fact makes it a "right" then fine......

it seems we spend more time fighting over health care than we do looking for good solutions,

I'm guessing because the health insurance lobby has a TON of money to throw at creating argument.

What tells me that Democrats are really all about control and ... socialism......and they really couldnt care less about the actual costs of healthcare.....is that they want to socialize it all and only the payment side and do nothing about the costs of healthcare.

But they want taxpayers to pay for everything for everyone.......Not just end of life care, not just emergency services

.. but apparently those if us working for a living need to cover your antibiotics from your STD, your broken leg from flag football, your concussion from your antifa riot.

Why everything?

Can you slackers cover any of your own bills?

It's not a right. It's a luxury. That being said, the mark of a first world country is providing health care to the citizenry.

Providing?

Or do you mean a first world country has excellent and affordable healthcare available for everyone?

I don't care what you guys do, leave me out of it.

I will take care of myself, and my family. I suggest everyone else do the same.

It should be excellent and affordable, but unfortunately it’s getting more and more unaffordable.
