Mixed emotions.

Hate to see it, hate the waste and wish it didn't happen.

Second thought, people gotta work and eat, it's a huge ocean out there and there's going to be harvests.

There's one instant improvement that could be made.

Every single last Fluke that comes up counts against the daily quota, no matter how small it is.  There is no acceptable reason to be throwing back dead shorts.  It's a complete waste.

If they wind up getting less per pound for 12" fish, then so be it.  You killed it, it counts.

Catch your 500 lbs in as few sets as possible (hopefully only 1), and then get that gear the hell off the water for the day.

Nowadays, we have a massive market for these things and with that is a large commercial fishing presence too, I despise the fact that they throw dead fish like this for waste and left too be dead, But I guess this is the way things are now unless if guys start taking action on these problems, But then again do politics even care to look into this?- NOO!

What Agency allows fish and by-catch to be caught and thrown back dead......you'll be fined if caught doing it to Sea Robbins on the surf, what the heck is happening here.....and they keep regulating the size and bag limit on recreational fisherman....now ya know why.

No wonder the bluefish are harder to find on shore.......  They got a feast around these boats......

These boats are not going away, like it or not.  Wish they used what they killed......

There are other jobs in the world that aren't harmful to the fish resource and that don't affect the lives of thousands of recreational anglers. Their "making a living" actually harms the overall economy because it makes recreational fishing worse, which means fewer dollars will be spent on it over time, hurting various shore businesses. That's from a purely capitalist standpoint, not to mention the idiocy of killing short fish and dumping them back it the ocean dead.

It would be an interesting video for someone to play at the next regulation hearing and ask the members how these boats controbute to the overall health vs  surf catches that get thrown back alive.  Throwing back dead fish doesnt help fix the problem.

We used to have carburetors - We have injection

We used to have points - We have electronic ignitions

We used to have maps - We have GPS

We had 2 cycle outboards -  Now all 4 strokes

Commercial fishing has become extremely efficient only in targeting and how much area it can cover. It's time they get more efficient at targeting species and size PLUS eliminating bicatch.?   I also agree with Joey - It all counts.

Also remember - We used to have a LOT of people making a living building refrigerators, toasters, washing machines, radios,TVs...... What are those people doing today ? Adapt or die.
