$2.50 a pound for bluefish!!?? I've never seen them that high. I think the most I ever got was about 90 cents and that was a one time deal. Most of the time it was abut 50 cents.

For the last several years, bluefish have demanded pretty good money, i.e., good bycatch to add to whatever else you may be fishing for;  guys will gear up with stout umbrella rigs, electric reels, and specifically fish for them. The price does fluctuate like all fish.....smoked bluefish vendors pay good also....

A dedicated American and International  market is established and growing.   In addition to hook and line, trawl and gillnet are utilized for capture.  A lot going on several miles offshore, and over the horizon.

A 3 or 4 pound blue conked on the head some, bled, and immediately buried in a ice filled cooler-is good eating.

Remove any dark meat prior to prep/cooking.
