It had rained in the morning and the wind had shifted to SSW.

For me any wind direction out of the west is bad news as it stirrs up the sediment and pushes waves.

Clarity of the Gulf was poor and the swell was nasty.

I fished the drainage pipes but only had a few hit.

Beach fishing forwas snook was out of the question, no snook to be spotted and off course nasty waves present.

Decided to concentrate on the breakwater at the end of the beach and the inlet itself.

Now and then the small stuff would hit the fly but no consistent action.

I did get a snooklette though before my lunch.

After lunch I had two small redfish in a row and a few missed takes so I had hopes something larger might appear.

Action quickly died down and only well past sunset the snook had their 15 minute beserk window.

Had one good bite but the fish came on.

The headwind, waves and low clarity where though. As I could not spot the nuisance rocks anymore a few flies where parked permanently to the seafloor. Called it a day when the moon was in the sky.

Are these pictures of the day you describe at the beginning of your post?

If so, you gave me a good morning chuckle, you need to come fish Montauk for perspective on nasty swell!  Been reading all your reports, glad you seem to be enjoying your trip.  You certainly are spreading the love around the different species.

Enjoy the rest of your stay.
