I received my new vr50B on Tuesday. No bailless kit included..

They both look great. I have the black super slick on a Stella FJ.  It looks great with the black.  Can't wait to hear how they fish!

I finally spooled my VR50.  I spooled it using the natural rotation on the reel.  Does it look over spooled or under spooled?  Line lay looks ok.  What do you guys think?

I believe @scoobydoo did a review on the vr50 bailess kit and it was an epic failure in terms of stability of the rotor and terrible install.

I feel like since the change in ownership coupled with this stupid virus not much will be coming down the pipe for a while.

After using this reel a handful of times, the bail seems to be a lil stiff when closing.  In the beginning it used to flip down nicely when i manualy close the bail.  Now, it kinda grinds a little when almost closed all the way.  I took the rotor out and bail assembly apart.  I did find some sand particles in the bail assembly which caused the grinding.  But still was not smooth to close.  So i applied a thin layer of marine grease in there and now its like new.

Because of this, I really want the bailess kit now.

Anyone else experience the bail closing issue?

Hi. I just got my VR50 black only last week from TD. Placed it on order since April 6. Mine didn’t come with bailess kit. No issues on the bail either. It reels superb, cast well and line lay perfect straight. I was earlier wanting a vsb150 but after trying this out, it’s better, super light and retrieves much faster than the VS. No complaints whatsoever.

Which rod are you pairing it with?
