Hobie part

9 posts in this topic

I was out fishing today.  Trying with no success for Albee’s.  There was a moderate swell might be 1.5 feet.  I was rolling with the waves and my boat an outback didn’t seem to be steering well.  I thought it was just the water conditions.  When I checked the inside of the hull I saw this piece laying in the hull.   Ok what is it where does it go and how do I put it back?  Will attempt with my horrendous computer skills.  Thanks Charlie

The pin in the rear rudder. Take a look and you’ll see it on the pivot of the rudder.

Its a spare that mounts under the rear round hatch cover.

Goggle hobie kayak rudder pin.

Rudder size is a huge difference. I was just out with a buddy that has the standard rudder and it was impossible for him to stay straight. Mine came standard with the sailing rudder but the Oasis does track much better than the outback on the ocean anyway.

That’s a relief.  Now I have to figure out why my outback was steering so badly in the big swells any ideas?

Do you wedge your “Down” cord into the cleat after deploying?
