So I just got the Saltx, came yesterday...  Pretty cool reel.  Couple of things I noticed just in case anyone was wondering...

1. The size is just about the same as my Ultegra 5500

2. The reel seat extends out further than my 5500.  So guys with big hands like me don’t need to worry about the bail hitting your knuckles.

3. The bail I huge.  Meaning the diameter of the material is really substantial.

4. It’s really light weight.

5. Compared to a VS it’s much easier to crank the handle right out if the box.

6. The drag is ridiculous.  50 lbs for a fairy small reel is insane.

7. I got sand all over it, no problem.

8. Mike from Causeway B and T Long Island said they are coming in Black soon

9.  As usual I caught nothing lol...

What size rod do you have the 6000 paired with?

I use two but the one in the pic is a Black Hole North East Special.  Butt is cut about 6” so it’s now 11’ 6”.  3/4 to 4 oz

I picked one up about 6 months ago and still haven’t put line on it. Can’t decide on what rod it’s going to be put on. There’s some trouble with the reels look it up on that famous video site and I’m thinking there not water proof as promised. Has anyone figured out were to buy seals or any maintenance for it.

Not sure how you could have picked one up about 6 months ago... the first production Salt X reels didn’t hit store shelves until Mid July... anything prior to that would have been a prototype and not intended for resale!

Mine has been better than I could have imagined.  It’s strong, smooth and cast really well!

Well it was August 1 anyways just watch the videos so you’ll know what to listen for. I love the feel and smoothness and it looks good.

I think it looks great and the smoothness is amazing for a sealed reel.  I paired it with a Century 1505 Slingshot 1-4 12’6” rod .

Nice I’m still not sure if I want to use for small sharks or normal beach fish that’s why it’s not spooled up yet. I have until December to decide. The bad thing living in Minnesota is there’s no surf rods to go and see. I just research then buy of internet.
