I don’t know the gear composition on the new Penn live liners but I suspect it is std Penn chinesium. I put major hours on a ssv6500 ll, it never failed me . But,under load it was cranky, not pleasant. Still,it was a reliable fishing reel and the live liner never failed me. I don’t care about seals,imx6 etc in a live liner because By it’s design it is not going in the wash. I switched to Shimano Baitrunners a couple years ago,own 3. Much smoother under load and cast better. Not without issues though. The Fierce 3 ,I suspect, uses the proven, original ssv live liner system,in a very nice, streamlined package. Feels good in the hand. And,less than a C note. Worth looking at imho.....
jon_elc
what size? i bought the fierce2LL in 4000 and 6000 this year. the 6000 uses the 5000 gears, and crank, so it's only a line capacity (and drag) increase, but not a gear size increase I've not used the LL for actual fishing yet - just for feeding line for tying etc. Edited September 10, 2019 by jon_elc more info

C.Robin
Seals also help to keep sand out. If it's going to be used in a boat, may be worth saving a few bucks. From shore, whether wading or not, I'd get the SSV. Much better reel. I do have a few fierces as back ups for friends to use. They're good reels for their price, but if you fish often I'd upgrade a bit. Edited September 10, 2019 by C.Robin
Tagman
The Spinfisher has IPX5 sealing, and it has the CNC cut gears. The Fierce has no seals and uses a cheap zinc gear. Ya get what you pay for.
