So.  The Donald and his lackeys and minions seem to hate democracy.  Apparently they are discussing having the Republican Primaries and Caucuses in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas cancelled, according to Politico.

This may be a strategic leak to see if will fly with the rank and file reps.

Topic for discussion:

Would you support a move like this by the Republican Party?

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.

Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

The moves are the latest illustration of Trump’s takeover of the entire Republican Party apparatus. They underscore the extent to which his allies are determined to snuff out any potential nuisance en route to his renomination — or even to deny Republican critics a platform to embarrass him.

Yeah what is this ? Didn't you see what happened to the nineteen challengers in his last primary ? Didn't you see him disarticulate the establishment favorite, Jeb ? Wiped the floor with Jeb and made it look as easy as it was quick.

This is not a repeat of the complete corruption seen in the Democrat Party primary of 2016. There there were two candidates with the outcome certain. Poor comparison.

Millions of Bernie voters were told to shut up and sit down and they did just that. Bernie got his payout for playing good boy, and Das Beast progressed forward claiming to have won a hard fought contest. I asked a Bernie voter why they did not get mad, and they said they were mad but nothing could be done about it. That voter is excited to support Bernie again. So I asked, what happens if they repeat the same deal only this time they rig it for Warren ? No answer was proffered, so I answered. It means Bernie gets another island and a new car.

Primaries of sitting presidents are never affairs that gain traction. They just dont.

Who are the Primary challengers?  I've heard Bill Weld.  Anyone else?  What chance do they have?  Trump has a 90% plus approval rating among GOP voters.  There is no need to squash any other candidates.

It's not like the DNC rigging it for Hillary.  Super Delegates and all.

What is the official threshold for the validity of a primary?

Common sense would say that it would be a joke to hold primaries when no challengers exist, but what about challengers with no chance, or slim chance?

At what level of support does a challenger justify a primary?

You woulld think that would be defined, no?

Except for Jefferson. All the nasty **** going down in  France was providing a compelling argument of what would happen when democracy goes bad.

Primaries are very important in California. If the loser of a primary still garners more votes than the winner of the opposition’s primary, they have a 1 party election.

I don’t think it’s unusual for either party to wrap their arms around the incumbent candidate and pass on primaries.  Might be a gauge of how much Trump owns the Republican party which should be a surprise to no one.

Is this rigging an election, or just eliminating unnecessary expenses of running an election that is not really needed?

I tend to think the latter. Trump has no serious challengers, so is an election really needed?

It isn't like there is a Republican Bernie with a chance to unseat the favorite like Hillary had. There is no delagates rigging, or any of the myriad tricks the Democrats used to usher Hillary into position to run against Trump.
