Roger that :th: ....... IMO, Just about all the Albies that frequent that area are on the jumbo side.... very rare you see any little guys out there....

Too bad you couldnt finish.....:dismay:

Regards....

It was a shame. I only got to see the tail which was three to four times the size of the typical hand sized Albie tail. One of the other guys stayed as he wanted to see it also. Got aggravating after about fifteen min. I wanted to bump up the drag but I knew something was going to give. It ended up taring loose from the hook set. Never did snap that 10lb J-Braid all month. Even caught a 40" bass with it (Joey Paudano snap jig set up brainwashed me to go light). Said I'd never use it again being borderline under matched but I had more fun with that set up then I've had in a long time

I've have a 3000 on a Mojo I bring too but doesn't cast as sweet.

Tag sale-bought 7 foot Quantum Inshore, eBay bought 3000 Penn Fierce and 10lb PowerPro w/3 feet of 20lb flouro. Chucks a mile, handles the feesh and if I lose it from the yak I'm out like $50.

Curious, what lb leader were you using? Open water 10lb J Braid can pull some heavy ****!

Any spinning rod 1/4-3/4oz or 1/4 to 1 1/4oz will be fine.  Any 3000-4000 class reel loaded with 15 or 20lb power pro is fine.

I use a st. Croix mojo 3/8-3/4 130 bucks and a shimano stradic 3000.  144 on sale.

I've been beating up 2 Shimano Saharas in 2500 size for 2 seasons now. They handled Blues up to the mid teens this spring and are still going strong. They should work as a cheap Albie reel just fine.  I hope to find out first hand soon enough

You gonna go out in the yak this fall Ridenfish? The beach is cool and everything but wait until you hit one on the yak!! Last year we had some really good days man. The one day I was next to you, you put on a show dude. You had the sweet spot for sure that day.

Doesnt take many albies to make those diawa 2500 make noises it shouldnt.

At least the diawa's I've used  anyway.

They will work but just don't seem to hold up  very long.

I like the Diawa BG3000 paired w/Tsunami Slimwave SWSPS701-M. Nice light combo you can cast all day, the BG 3000 never quit & the slimwave casts those light epoxys a mile!

That was a fun day, and October for that matter.  Shame November sucked.

I’d love to get on them out of the yak.  I’m a newb at it though.  If you wouldn’t mind some company let me know.  I have a lot of time off banked.  I’ll have no problem keeping up.  I can get that yak on plane and keep it there

Nice to hear that. I'm an avid biker as well from what I seen you write. We will try and hit up this fall and get on them.

Seems like there are a lot of us that ride here.

My race season just ended and I need to change things up soon.

I saw a post today from a guy on a boat that had an Albie and he was well in range of a yak.  Maybe a mile out.

In a week or so I'll start watching the surf and weather forecast every day waiting for those flat surf days to get out.  I save some vacation every year just in case a perfect mid week day happens.  Last year one happened on a Friday.  I convinced 2 buddies to go with me.  I thought no one else would be there.  We pulled up to like 20 kayakers!  Great day on the water.

I use a Cadence CR5 7' MH 3/8-1oz (54$) and a 3000 or 4000 series reel with 20 lb braid. Can't recommend that rod enough for the price.
