It was not the chicken. It was the flavor of the soup that I felt was tasteless. They served only chicken soup in that place and it was a famous restaurant. It was the president favorite restaurant. That’s why they took me there because I didn’t like it in the first place they took me. I always see signs for it in H-Mart. I may need to take a trip to H-Mart this weekend from all your food photos.

Weather forecast says we have rain and lightening until tomorrow. It is too dangerous to fish in a remote island under lightening. I might postpone fishing until Friday. When you come to Jeje Island, there are two famous food. One is kalchi ( ribbonfish) and the other is Heukdaeji ( black pork ). I ate both. While black pork's price is reasonable ( $40 per two), the ribbonfish's price is high ( $38 per person). I don't understand why ribbonfish dish's price is so high as lots of ribbonfish are caught in Jeju. oh God. do you know what they feed the pigs at jeju-do to make heukdaeji taste so unique ? * Edited September 6, 2019 by TimS No reddit links please
RonG
@levari Ginseng is used in Asia as a medicinal to boost energy, mental and physical (most common usage). Studies have found it also has other benefits. Chicken is used to lessen the bitter taste of the Ginseng root. Wild Ginseng found in the US commands a very high demand and top dollar from Asia. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ginseng-benefits
BrianBM
ksong, glad to read that Koreans enjoy hard liquor, as well as beer. What kind of Western liquor is popular in Korea? I owe you a visit, when you're back, and I can't come empty handed.

I saw the special Jeju lava rock toilet turret atop the rock pig pens where farmers used to crap down for the pigs. One less commode to clean...
