If you've lived locally for a long time, you know that res has always had crowd problems at certain times in certain places.

Back then newspapers, especially the Worcester papers, always printed fish reports and glory pics which would bring down hoards.

Then The Fishermen mag made it a BFD outside the local area.

The one difference historically that changed since the web (besides crowd in general), is the summer bass fishing.

You used to always be able to find any parking you wanted after laker season. Now alot of serious bass fishermen go there.

Keeping up those smallmouth glory pics all summer on FB adds a new set of anglers competing for parking.

Having said that, we fished shoreline yesterday in which no humans were visible for miles. Endless shore to walk and cast.

Do they not enforce the rules the way they used to?

There weren't many people around, easy for LE to check lots with cars. Was surprised that wading and letting your loose dog swim was so bold.

And the friggin butts! The good rocks and beach spots are ashtrays.

I just checked out that Facebook page. Those are some impressive smallmouth.  It makes me almost want to fish there and I don’t even like to fish freshwater from shore. Now if you could put a boat or kayak in there I’d be there right now.

I honestly believe they are the same pics recycled over and over. I dont care who you are and how often you fish there. Nobody catches that many nice fish like that out of there a year

The rez has a very nice smallie population. I know of a spot that consistently produces 4, 5 lbers pre-spawn. Fortunately it's often underwater so it's not over-run like other spots. About 5 years ago a guy I know who's fished there for years caught a 6lb 9oz smallie that he weighted the day after he caught it after he left it in his trunk overnight. It was probably a 7lb fish.

There are a lot of big fish there. However, they're hard to catch.

Let's hope they dont ruin it. Let's hope the wind, cold days, tough fishing and long walks keeps it at the most where it is now. Although everything good gets ruined it seems.

Im always amazed at the people who get repeatedly skunked at any fishing spot, yet the amount of people increases every year.

YouTube bass fishing star Jon B is currently filming in MA for a month or so.  If he gets to Wachusett it will be thoroughly spot burned to millions.

We all have our social media scape goats, but the friggin 'tube is the absolute worst in my opinion.

The level of spotburning, the huge audiences, the artificially inflated success (canal blitz vids!) and the appeal to new youngsters makes videos our enemy.

What I really dislike is the whorish nature in which these pukes get rich selling fish porn to impressionable kids.

My 13 year old could stay up all night watching john B and his ilk.

Who the hell is John b?

Wicked famous kid allegedly getting rich and enjoying paid video making fishing trips to all top spots needing to be burned.

Seems like a mediocre fisherman and annoying conversationalist to me, but sponsors like him.

I’m 40 and I watch a lot of his videos.  I’m not a fan of watching bass fishing but some of the trips he’s done to the Amazon and fishing road trips throughout the US are great.  He’s kind of like a young Kilsong, Traveling the world filming and promoting his products.  If I was 15 years younger I would try to make a career out of fishing and travel too.

Well that's good enough for me. It's all John B's fault. :box:
