· #1 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) · Report post Anyone go squid fishing in Jersey? What kind of gear? - squid jigs and weight - trout rod - lights - bucket - clothes that can get dirty Never did it, I hear people bring generators with lights, but I'm thinking a couple LED worklights with my put out enough lumens without having to lug a generator. Walmart sells a good one with a build in lithium battery for about $20 that runs for a few hours without recharge and has a built in cellphone charger. I thing they were 1200 or 1400 lumens. Get a couple and swap them out for a whole night of fishing. Can this be done off a bridge? Or is that too high? · #4 Posted August 1, 2019 · Report post Yea. I was wondering it if is even done here on NJ off the piers. I see it's done up im Mass and RI and Long Island. then in the south it's done in NC to Florida. Don't see why not for NJ. 0 Go to top

Or the topography and countours of the bottom under the pier? 0 Go to top
· #10 Posted August 2, 2019 · Report post I think it’s because Sandy destroyed the fishing pier and it wasn’t rebuilt after sandy 1 Go to top
· #11 Posted August 2, 2019 · Report post Standard stuff offshore , ice cream to the tunas. What wasn’t eaten or lost was brought home for strip baits or people food . Squid Jigs were all you needed . If ya paid attention , and Neptune liked you , chances are you’d see em jetting thru the chunks , occasionally a tuna would come close enough for you to see him grab a snack . Can’t go offshore anymore , I miss it . Saw a lot of incredible life out there , Nat Geo stuff lol Bill J 2 Go to top
· #12 Posted August 2, 2019 · Report post Only place I’ve ever jigged for squid was in the canyon.....we would free net them with a small net on an 8’ pole as well.... right into the bait well or right on the hook. .... we fished from the Hudson to the Baltimore.... man I miss the canyons of the 90’s .... true nat geo moments. 1 Go to top
