oldgoat
I read that Red's best is not buying because of selling price. What have you heard?

ctownfisherman
Why cant those fish enter the US market and undermine the yellowfin that is selling at $19-$25/lb?

Sorry, let me clarify Im speaking of retail prices in Boston per lb. At places like Red's, whole foods, yankee lobster and james hook. Which to me possibly translates to a dock price of maybe $4-6. Im no expert on prices today but, did manage the seafood department a boston area whole foods circa 12-14'. I know that there are customers preference and bluefin can look too red or dark and as a result doesnt sell as quick as the typical yellowfin steaks. If the suppliers were able to better inform the customer of local bluefin it might help everyone except the Japanese. Ctown theshadow

jmarino1432
When I sold my bass on Thursday to Reds there were two tuna in the truck. Both about 400lbs. The local market has been awful but if you get a good one that heads to Japan there is still a good price there so I think it’s a fish by fish basis
Angler #1
I have been told that the market for tuna has dropped of the deep end end and that some markets are not buying any at all. If that is the case we should see less fishing on them .
