Riveted or Screwed Knob on SSVI 6500

3 posts in this topic

I recently purchased a 6500 size spinfisher 6 and noticed some slop in the knob, noticeable enough to feel it clicking around on retrieve. I have tried prying off the cover of the knob but it is taking a lot of force and I'm scared of going further in worry of breaking the knob. I was wondering if this millimetre-ish slop is normal or could be fixed somehow as I don't think I will be returning it.

The knob is riveted and you need some play or the handle will not spin freely.  Try dropping some oil or if you are able to squirt a little grease in there to quiet it down.

Thanks tony that’s great to know, after all, it’s my first “big” reel for the salt.
