Not to broaden this beyond the scope of the canal but I had an encounter early this summer that just left me depressed.  Was in my home river on the South Shore taking my boat out to the harbor and I see dead stripers.  Rounding the bend I see a fleet of kayaks.  As if the dead gut hooked stripers weren't enough (most people would be ashamed and perhaps slink away to be less noticeable) I get an aggressive wave to move on.  It was the "get out of our way, we're fishing" wave.  I was so caught off guard I just kept going although I cut back the throttle to dead slow.  Still pissed I didn't stop and ask if these googans have any clue what they're doing.

The lack of respect for the fish and the lack of respect for the river killed me.

I have pictures of me in this river when I was less than 1.  I caught my first striper in this river at maybe 8 rowing around in an old life boat my Dad gave me.  As cheesy as it sounds, the river is a part of me and I've been on it, in it, around it for over 40 years.

Last summer I saw some idiot posting to instagram videos of him throwing cocktail blues sky high.  He was apparently pissed that the blues "ruined his day fishing".  And had such lack of self-awareness that he made this public.  WTAF!!!?

Perhaps the issues at the canal are symptomatic of a larger problem.  Too many a-holes fishing.  Imagine this level of abuse amount hunters during deer season.

anyone who has a ltc best check their permitt/rules..last time I knew its not law full to carry in any public place or loaded even in your car    ..depending on the town you live in the last time I knew they don't pass out permitts for personal protection not anymore.....home to the range only and back....it takes an act of god to get P>P even if you tell them your carry large sums of money from work to the bank...they will come escort you to the bank if need be.

I think you're thinking of Rifles and Shotguns.

I've had my permit  for close to 50 years..use to carry a 45 in my glove box 24/7..no more....all lawful purposes pretty much means target practice only these days...I don't feel like spending 2.5 years in jail for not knowing the rules when it comes to guns even though I've owned close to a hundred guns  growing up.. pretty much gave up shooting..no sand pits left to shoot in and I'll be dammed if I'm going to shoot at a little black dot on a paper...boring!

Can we also get a description of the guy that showed the gun and the group he was with?

Also why are so many people carrying guns with them while fishing in the first place?

That really sucks, and I agree that there are more entitled aholes who don’t respect the fish or other fishermen out there but there are some great people I meet fishing too.

Because the parents aren't breeding responsible kids anymore...just fruit loops.

my Class A LTC is unrestricted "for all lawful purposes" to carry concealed...and completely coincidentally, my freshly renewed LTC arrived in the mail today...some cities/towns are tough to get, some not so much...Taunton has been a joy to renew in for 20 years...

Each city/town issues LTC With or without restrictions. I like many have no restrictions :)

you haven't been able to keep a firearm in a glove box unintended in Mass for many years...but Class A unrestricted is still concealed carry...

The whole concept of personal space has gone out the window.  Years ago, if you arrived and found several people already there, you moved on.  It was an unwritten rule. If guys were throwing skins or jigs, and someone decided to move in and fish bottom, it wouldn't be allowed.  You did not horn in on the guys who were there first.

Now, there's no etiquette. No respect, no manners. Guys move in, a mere few feet from you in some cases, and ignore you. Like you're not there. It's maddening.  :banghd:

Even if you have the patience of Job, after an hour of crossed lines, cut lines, lost lures, and raised voices you reach a saturation point.  Last night I went home and sat on my front stairs in the dark. The sobs won.

If someone brandishes a firearm from the wasitband and the other non-aggressor is actually carrying too, does it make it a legal shoot to take down the threat before there becomes a problem or do you need to wait for the other to actually reach for it?  I understand the canal rules....as they should not be carrying but what happens away from there in any public place?

I’m sorry but this isn’t correct. I am able to carry conceal my firearm anywhere it is lawful. Other than municipal buildings, airports courts, etc anyone with a Class A LTC can carry legally. Your LTC could be issued for sporting target only. There is no confusion on what my Class A LTC allows for. And I’m not sure if it’s ever been legal to keep a firearm in the glove box.

Could you imagine being on the jury for this case it court?

I shot him because he brandished his gun after I yelled at him for casting over my line while fishing.
