Not sure what the big hoopla is here..no offense.

Got into some in the surf by pure luck with some clam.

Other than the unique look,  I'll take a snapper fight over these things.. it was like reeling in a wet tissue, no real fight to speak of.

Big hoopla in your words not mine, is that these fish dont come in numbers each year.  I scale down to 7 foot rod and usually pick the best tide, area, and conditions for me.

But to tell a little about me.  I am all about bass and blues.  Kingfish is a bait hands down. Fun to catch and eat too.

Understanding Bass habits is also understand bait.  These trips or to learn what's in the area and why.

I have been 100 percent catch and release for bass in the last 7 years.

I also see as to each is own when it comes to fishing.

Really? The ones I got never stopped. Even after out of the water. The pic I have above was next to impossible to get. Had about a dozen that were all the same. Wish they got bigger, maybe there lame in the surf.

No fight is odd.  Maybe you didnt downsize your gear.

Blues are great too, less so when they arent around.

Kings taste better.

The hoopla is they can be fun to catch under the right conditions.   If you locate some off the beach and they are close enough to reach on light tackle and light sinkers, you can have a blast. And it will be steady action.

You really need to use light gear. You can feel the bites a lot better. They actually fight pretty hard for their size.
