Went out on a drift fishing boat this weekend out of Jupiter. Have no idea what this fish is. The mate said it was a sand perch and was swordfish bait, which made no sense to me, but he'd seen them before. He said it was a part of wrasse family. All of my google searching couldn't find anything that looked like this. Wondering if you guys have seen one of these.

Next pic is just weird, we ran into a school of blue runners and bonita, and a few of us brought up black blue runners. Have you guys ever seen that?

This last one, i caught surf fishing near the Melbourne/Sebastian area. It looks like something in the drum family, like a mixture between a croaker and a black drum. It didn't croak, and was bigger than any croaker i've ever caught, probably 12-14 inches. The yellow fins and stripes threw me off, not sure what this is.

Your top pic is not a sand perch/squirrelfish.

I am trying to get a good identification one it, but I am learning toward some kind of wrasse. I also agree with emate that it does look like good swordfish bait

I'm going to ask a guy I know if he can get a good if on fish 1. How long was it?

I'm guessing 24 inches or so. It was really slimey, eel like, that was my second take after it slipped out of my hands.

That last fish almost looks like a banded drum. That's the best species I can come up with, but it's still not a PERFECT match,

I'm pretty sure some Drum species are able to cross breed maybe something like that is going on there with that last one.

Maybe an Atlantic Croaker/Black Drum hybrid?
