No different then anywhere else in the sound. However your not a resident so $$$.

Sunken Meadow is a state park, so residency shouldn't come into the picture (in any event, as a Freeport resident, he's a state resident, too), even if he didn't have the Empire Pass.

Sunken Meadow is a great fishing.

Good size porgies, all between 4 and 6lb.

Report from last week from Sunken Meadow Fish and Chips tackle store was

12 Cobia, all cut during 1-3 PM, with biggest one being 84.3 lb only. Most fisherman are waiting for a new run that should start on Monday, with sun phases changes.

28 Tarpons, most of them cut during the happy hour, 10PM to 2AM, with biggest one being 6' 4", around 165pb and safely released.

There were plenty of black haired  Pompano but tackle stuff did not keep any record on those. They were all cut close to surf, 300yards or so, on East end of the beach with most on Pistol Pitt yellow pencil durter with chicken scratch gulp following closely.

Extra ordinary, non stop action, on great sea Smutles, using Gipsy Gibble 1.85oz plug, with slow jerking and cream puffing.

Very good run on Mackarel was reported yesterday around Isle island on north side of Sunken Meadow

Steelhad season opens on Tuesday, July 2nd and it will run for next two weeks.

Plenty of 20-30lb halibuts, small drums and even one Rooster fish, but apparently, this one was cut from the boat so it doesn't count.

Parking space, behind 7-Eleven is opened and it is free to all who parks there before 7AM, after that is $2.50 per hr

There is another free parking on the west side of the SunMea theater and casino but you will have to walk about 1/2 mile to the beach

He’s still not a resident. He posted Freeport not the Bronx.

Boy, I wish Sunken Meadow had been so productive of cobia during the years when I fished there ... caught my first striper there, all of 18", fiftysomething years ago.

Right.  And Freeport is in New York State, so he's a New York State resident, and Sunken Meadow is a New York State park.

The Sunken Meadow that he's talking about, as far as I know, is this one https://parks.ny.gov/parks/37/ in King's Park, New York, so I'm not sure where The Bronx comes into the picture, although residents of The Bronx, like residents of Freeport, do live in New York State.

Its great if you wanna bring home buckets of shorts, fight with people for spots, navigate through little Tijuana, pick up worm boxes and clam tubs after every body and have mini yachts beaching on the sandbars right off the beach after their treacherous ride from the KP marina...

Meh. Theres much better spots.

Was there about 2 weeks ago... Had 2 small porgies that went back...very slow fishing.

Also, for whatever reason, they were only allowing fishermen with “permit” to field 2 (farthest east).

Good thing I brought my Jeep and showed them my 4WD pass and they let me in.

I thought it was only because I got there early, but they were still checking by the time I left around noon.

That's the permit they're looking for, additionally they sell day passes for that field as well. Seems like the only beach that actively checks, and it's not even a 4x4 beach lol
