Penn Leveline

I've been checking out Penn reels with the Leveline line control system and plan to pick one up, mainly out of curiosity about the Leveline system. A couple of questions: (1) Did Penn use the Leveline in sizes other than the 350? (2) what are the shortcomings of the Leveline?( I figure there must be some, otherwise the standard levelwind found on most reels would be a historical relic).

For a number of years I have been using a Penn 350 as my go to surf casting reel because of the great line lay for the next cast...

They are pretty cheap on the auction site.  It's worth the experiment at any rate. How would you compare casting distance with the Abu 6500?

Distance is a reflection on the ability of the fisherman..

True enough, but I know how far I can cast a 6500, but I've never even seen a Leveline, let alone cast one. I thought somebody might have experience with both and be able to compare them.
