Raritan Bay people, how much toll would you pay to go though a canal at the beginning of Sandy Hook?  I probably use at least $25 in gas to go past the tip back and forth, plus 30-40 minutes saved each way.

I thought sandy might put one in for us if you mean to go through right at the base of the sandy hook bridge.

I'm not sure I get the reference to raritan bay people.

People with their boats in marina's along the bay

I get that.

I'm not sure how a canal through sandy hook saves them any time or fuel.

Sandy Hook is 5 miles long, That's 10+ extra miles to get to the rocks that could be cut off with a canal

....yeah and the knucklehead boaters stacked up waiting to go out like they do under the Shrewsbury Bridge on a weekend....who needs that...we do the trip from the Highlands to the SHR in a few minutes.....then NJ will add a toll to use it.

Kml’s mom doesn’t let him take the boat out of the bay.

Nobody goes from Atlantic Highlands to the Shrewsbury Rocks in a few minutes except by helicopter.  LOL.

A canal at the highlands bridge would save a ton for anybody docked in the rivers and going to the Rocks.

No doubt, it would be federal and stupidly expensive !

Cheaper to use the gas and go around

compared to beach replenishment which only serves a few rich water front property owners and is guaranteed to washed away. a canal could serve many boats and they could probably collect tolls. marine ez pass

Beach replenishment - hadn't taken that into consideration

They'd never be able to keep it open with that $150 million worth of pumped sand all flowing north

I am very familiar with the lay of the land.

It doesn't save anything for anyone coming from raritan bay.

you are correct, anybody behind Earl in Raritan bay does not benefit much, anybody coming from Sandy Hook bay, from Leonardo and Highlands into the rivers, they will benefit the most
