Electoral College

I know there are a few threads on this here and that cesspool a few forums down, but I haven't had the time to read thru them all.

Besides the fact is that this thread is for information and I am not interested in debating the good and bad of the electoral college. The better ones of us know its importance, and others, well, not so much, but arguing back and forth is really gonna change anyone's mind.

So this is mostly to get the word out, cause this foundation of America is dangerously close to being obliterated. And this is not conspiracy theory or anything else, this is all FACT.

Seems those that are opposed to this way of electing our President have found a way to get around the electoral college without making an amendment to the Constitution.

Each state retains its right to chose its electors by any means they see fit. Mostly it is by the vote within the state, some states being popular winner within the state taking all (which isn't really good, but), others do it by district (which is what SHOULD happen).

Bu the way the constitution is written, a state can decide to delegate its electoral votes any way the state legislature chooses.  That could be which league wins the World Series, or what the weather is on July 4th of the election year, among other things.

Well, the liberals caught onto to this, and quietly have encouraged 15 states to pass legislation sayingn that their electoral votes will be delegated to whichever person wind the popular vote ACROSS THE NATION. These 15 sates equal 189 votes. If they get to 270, the game is over..........and the electoral college is effectively history, even without the Amendment everyone is arguing about.

Now, there is a bunch of left wind garbage about the organization from which the following comes from, but as I said it is mostly garbage by a very suspect media outlet.. Either way, this is FACT and is happening, and they are fighting against it.

Right now the key states are  North Carolina, Maine, and Minnesota, where legislation like this is being considered.

Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) told Breitbart News on Saturday at the Young Women’s Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas, that “one of the greatest threats” to the United States is a well-funded effort from the left to make the Electoral College obsolete and effectively allow for “tyranny of the mob” to decide the outcome of presidential elections.

“This is one of the greatest threats to our country; it’s one of the greatest threats to our republic that no one is talking about,” said Kirk, “There is a well-funded effort called the National Popular Vote Project — Breitbart has done a great job of helping cover this — where they are trying to surreptitiously circumvent the Electoral College process.”

Kirk noted that the project is well-funded and that its goal is to “essentially [have] states say, ‘We’re going to delegate our electors based on the winner of the national popular vote.'” The TPUSA founder added that 15 states — which total to 189 electoral votes — are already committed to the effort.

I know there are many people here ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE that cherish the institution of the electoral college, so please, do some research and do what you can to prevent this from happening.

If the EC is somehow abolished or rendered useless, then Trump will have to just declare himself dictator ;)

But seriously, doesn't this action constitute a "pact between states" and subject to federal approval?

Why would it not be "tyranny of the mob" when the electoral college results represent the "other mob"?

Choose your "mob", choose your "side".   The electoral system is out of date and needs to be revised.

You do realize that the 13 lowest number electoral vote States have not had a presidential candidate visit during the campaign in the past SIX elections, right?   "Their" voices are so well represented in presidential elections.

the EC no longer serves the purpose it did when it was created.

Republicans support it because they benefit from it,

if there comes a time where they no longer benefit from it,

they will advocate for eliminating it.

what exactly is the discussion topic in this thread/

Sort of like a chain e-mail, I think

"...so please, do some research and do what you can to prevent this from happening."  As if the posters here in the PG will stop the states from choosing how to allocate their electoral votes.

And this would change without the EC?  They’d have even less of a voice.

it was designed to be a buffer between the masses, and those who would actually get to vote for the President,

in reality it no longer works that way.
