Poole Forge surprise

Stopped by Poole Forge on the way to pick up mulch at Lowes.

Looking for a trout in the section below the covered bridge, as the upstream portion gets improved by the stream restoration company.

Used my quarter ounce brown spinner and was nearly down to the rt23 bridge when I did a long downstream cast into some slower waters. Turned the crank a bit and snagged. I'm thinking a piece of submerged wood dislodged from the upstream activity.

But then it started to move. After a 10 minute battle and being dragged under the rt23 bridge I tighten the drag a bit and beach him under the bridge.

25 inches and estimated 6lbs.

The upstream work is in progress. They deepened it and removed the stilted in areas, then lined the banks with huge delimbed trees and made some reinforcements with logs and rock. IMG_20190616_081352588.jpg.5bf68b9ea24d19bedfbae5920c2e427a.jpg

Do they stock that?

I think they stock it upstream and down from there by the state. A local trout club stocks it for a kids derby in May.
