TRUMP TO MOVE USDA PERSONNEL FROM D.C. TO WHERE FOOD GROWS

D.C. is the ultimate big government town. Food doesn't grow there. A swamp does.

The USDA, under Trump, is trying to actually move personnel closer to where food does grow.

Employees at USDA's Economic Research Service (ERS) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) intend to move from Washington, D.C. to an unspecified area in the Kansas City region by the end of 2019, the Washington Post reports.

Of course there's screeching at the idea.

Why it matters: "Employees, congressional Democrats and a bipartisan coalition of former USDA leaders" have warned that the move "would devastate the two agencies," per the Post. ERS and NIFA have both recently unionized and some "union officials have promised to fight the move."

Food.

Washington D,C. doesn't grow it. Missouri on the other hand has over 100,000 farms.

The swamp is whining that it might actually have to be located near where its supposed jurisdiction is located as opposed to enjoying the good life in D.C. while coming no closer to actual agriculture than the lobbyists for various concerns.

Some people think they're being moved as retribution because some economists criticized Trump policies...

...Last year, after an economist with the division presented research that contradicted the Trump administration’s views about the president’s signature tax cuts, the Agriculture Department put into effect new rules about submitting work to peer-reviewed journals. Now, Sonny Perdue, the agriculture secretary, is planning to move the roughly 300-person research unit, along with another division, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, out of Washington and closer to America’s farmers.

Mr. Perdue, who tried to shrink the agencies’ funding early in President Trump’s term, is expected to detail plans to relocate both units to Missouri, Kansas, Indiana or North Carolina, or another location far from the capital. He believes that the move, which could be announced in the coming days, will save money and make research more relevant.

But some critics see the relocation plan as another attempt by the Trump administration to diminish the role of science in government policymaking. Economists at the research service, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss their views of the office’s internal dynamics, said they believed they were being shipped out of town as retribution for producing work that clashed with the administration’s agenda....

Wasn't she on the original Addams Family? This pic is a joke!

But are these actual employees of the USDA? The only reason I'm asking is because I know a couple of USDA inspectors and they are normal.

Based on this we should move all Defense Dept procurement to the west coast cause that’s where the majority of the stuff is built. The 2 dept in question provide data to Congress and the general public and manufacturers not so much to individual farmers.

Keep in mind here that while operating under the Obama regime, this agency purchased millions of rounds of ammunition. I always wondered what they said to explain these purchases. I suspect that these employees were also weaponized against the American people. The half that don’t think Obama was a nice man.

Govt employees faced with the prospect of moving to the midwest or quitting their job and competing in the real world must be scary as hell for them.  They are like house pets being released in to the wild.
