Tsunami Shield or Penn Battle II to go with a 9ft surf rod? Mostly gonna be on the beach or jetty. And what size? Just wondering. (i can't get the BG cuz the right size isn't carried at where I'm getting my reel)

I don't wanna sound like a dick or anything, but I would buy a BG at full price before I bought one of those two at half price.

Is it because you have a gift card or something that you can’t shop elsewhere?

I’m not certain. The only Penns I have are old 704’s and just a biiiiiit heavier than a BG4500 :)

I'll consider the BG, but could someone still tell me whether the shield or Battle 2 is better?

No, the BG is better.

The 4500 BG is a big reel, almost the same size as an SSV 6500.

Just weighed mine at 23 oz with line.

Yikes. Just checked and looks like the 4000 is 14 (no line) and 4500 is 22.

I rescind my 4500 recommendation and suggest 4000.

J&H tackle,best $100 reel?

Daiwa BG!

Reason?

They don’t come back.

For your rod a 3500 or 4000.

4k holds about 300 yds 30lb braid,weighs about 15 oz.

Ok. I'll think about getting the 3500. But in the meantime, could someone please answer the original question? Is the Battle II or shield better?
