Heading to Galway in August. First time going to this part. Need some fishing info! Looking for a guide! Also can’t decide if I want to do a pike and Atlantic salmon charter or go saltwater

Thanks, you're a good man.  But I'll be ramping it up 2-3 years from now when the tuitions are done and I'm retired, hopefully not tired.

Looking forward to hearing about your future fishing endeavors.

But save time to bounce around the pubs in galway - my favorite city in ireland.  Check out the Quays, and Tig Cioli

Stop for an afternoon pint at the Salt House too, take it over to the wall and look down into the stream there, not pristine but you'll see trout in there, and eventually salmon upriver...

It's been a while, but the last time I checked, you don't need a license for trout.  The locals want Pike and Salmon.  That leaves a lot of streams open for good trout fishing.  Ireland has more restrictive stream access and private property laws.  I suggest ignoring them.

The Irish, they will take your money.

True.  We encountered a few instances of outrageous blarney.  The fishing-related story was a boat livery who claimed their flyer had last year's prices and it was now fifteen pounds more, for a rowboat, in the middle of nowhere, where they clearly were not being used.  At least we could say "no" to that one.

Spent some time in Galway on my honeymoon end of Oct. Missed the end of trout season by a couple weeks. Heartbreaking. I would stop by Duffy's tackle shop they were very informative about what was biting and what lures to use. Absolutely check out Quays, Kings Head, and have yourself a couple Galway Hookers. Great Craic!
