Hey Bob.

Keep us informed on the progress of your tomatoes. I know you planted a bunch early, and would like to see how those turn out

that is a crazy amount of tomatoes. Salsa, sauce, pickled green. It must be challenging to find a way to use all the fruit you’re gonna have. I usually grow six but if I had the space a dozen would be a lot of tomatoes.

I honestly don’t think I could use what you’d get from 20 plants let alone 48.

and I’m a fat Italian who really likes tomatoes.

He is going to make a lot of friends.

Side question what is everyone’s favorite kind of tomato

my vote is the jet star.

Perfect tennis ball size no blemishes and taste awesome

second is the golden cherry

I agree.  Jet star and celebrity are our favs. Perfect tomatoes.

We always grow 4 dozen. So far we've put in jet star, early girl, celebrity, big boy, rutgers, and a few kinds of cherry. I really want to find some campari, but for some reason I just can't find them.

Ok so I only do 11 tomato plants in my little patch and get tons. I end up canning about 12-15 jars worth per season.  Can’t imagine 48!!   Roma’s, jet star, celebrity ... those varieties are my favs.  Like the large cherry too.  Need some warm sunny weather to get things moving.

You’ll laugh at my ghetto driveway garden. I’ll snap pictures and post later. All in containers and so far I have six tomatoes some peppers, carrots, beets, Swiss chard, three different types of lettuce, basil and eggplant, yellow squash and zucchini. Need a few more containers because I want to try a broccoli or three.

Ive had terrible luck with basil the last few years, which is too bad because we enjoy homemade pesto.  To try and break the curse, I bought some 7 gallon fabric pots, and some "super soil" from a hydroponic store.

Not really, I've never had less than 50,,,,

Lots of canning come September, October.

These make the best sauce, or gravy, if you will

Thanks burkie. We're up to 50 plants, so I think I'll cap it at that.  But thanks for the input.
