What’s going on at WE2?

Was down to Jones WE2 this weekend and noticed they have most of the lot fenced off and the building there somewhat dismantled. Walked down past the swale and noticed that the parking lot concrete behind the fence is all broken up. No info on the JBSP website - well nothing more than to expect limited parking this summer.  Anyone know what’s going on?  WE2 has been a favorite quiet place for me and the wife to spend a beach day. Last couple summers seems to have become more popular, I’m hoping this isn’t becoming the new field 6 or that it isn’t going to be demolished entirely to make room for wildlife/bird habitat (not that I’m 100% against that).  Anyone know what’s going on?

Majority of it is being turned back into natural habitat.  My assumption is that perhaps that park is looking  to maintain the current percent of developed verses non developed land.  If you figure all the natural habitat lost to the new zip line park this about evens out the lost.....

You have a link for this regarding the work at WE2? Not that I don’t believe you, I’d just like more details on their plans. At least for fishing purposes, I’ve been avoiding the more popular fields like the plague. I really hope you’re right and they’re not developing WE2 anymore.

It happens every now and again. ;)

West End 2 at Jones Beach state park in my opinion

is the most beautiful beach in New York State. This

beach goes un-noticed because of the long hike that's

needed to get from the parking lot to the waters edge.

It can be exhuasting and there's quite a bit of marsh you

have to walk through. With low winds you'll encounter

swarms of mosquitos and gnats. I'm permitted there at

night for recreational fishing. At night it's that much worse.

Mike Brady was an architect. The house is settling.

We know there's a crack in the parking lot. What's the explanation for it?

In my opinion the Italians are the most knowledgeable people when it comes

to understanding the ocean. Ask them a question and you'll get a round about

humble answer. You don't really appreciate it until you've experienced it and

learned it on your own.
