My Alma Mater won the tourney.

But seriously, 4/8" ?????

all fish on the list were measured to the 8th of an inch, looks that was in the standard for the tourney, guessing they didnt want to confuse people by simplifying the fractions

My point being, who the hell records a measurement as 4/8 of an inch?

Nobody, unless your dealing with lumber or some other commodity that works with those kinda numbers.

It's well settled that it should be either SAE  or metric.

If the fish was 37.5 pounds, and 37 4/8" , then it was 37.5" Or 37 1/2".

I would never list a fish as 37 8/16 of a pound..
