New to Newport

Greetings all~ we are new to the Newport area. I've been fishing out of Barnstable for the past 10 years. Bass close to shore and around Ptown, out to Stellwagen for tuna.  We were in Falmouth before that. While there I found my way around the Elizabeth's and MV. Now we've relocated to Newport and I'm excited to learn the waters around Newport and beyond. If anyone can share places to explore (and maybe even catch fish ;-) ) I'd appreciate it. I realize that fishermen don't like to share their favorite places and spot burning will cost you your 1st born, I'm just looking for general areas to try out and discover.   I'll be bringing my McKee Craft to our new place soon... through the CCCanal, across BB and around the corner to Newport. I'm looking forward to getting out on the water and meeting others in the area. Thanks in advance.

Take a short drive to Middletown and talk to the guys at Saltwater Edge. They have lots of knowledge and a friendly staff that will send you in the right direction.

Yea, well... I'm pretty good at keeping a secret too! No spot burning here. Only 1,645 places that look just like this. fullsizeoutput_365f.jpeg

Going to Middleton/Newport the holiday weekend.  Never fished here.   Can I get some advice on a good ramp, plenty of parking and proximity to Stripers.  Never been but our strategy in Boston Harbor is pier, structure and bird porn to find em.  Figuring fish should be everywhere by that time.  I saw the public ramp in Newport....maybe there is a better spot??  PM's and advice would be appreciated!
