Have you ever seen an omoto chief extreme.  Machined aluminum frame and nice mag + centrifugal blocks.  They made abus for a stint

very nice reel right there.

smooth,fast and compact.

mine is 5-6 seasons old never had an issue and I serviced it only 2wice.

mag control is sharp too.

compared next to a shimano catala 300-a for spool width.

I just reread the OP's post, not sure if I would like to use this one for what he states.

I am sure it could handle it but,may make one feel undergunned,,,not sure.

I think I’d opt for the Seigler SM. It’s already magged and it has a lifetime warranty.

I’ve had many 6500’s and as good as they are the Seigler is far better

Have two abu C-3 reels, a 6501 and a 5501 (left handed retrieve) both purchased in 1992 and used exclusively in salt water.  They both look and operate the same today as they did when I bought them with nothing more than a quick spray down after each use along with a lube and light cleaning each year.  I replaced the drag washers every 5 years or so as well.  What more could you ask from a piece of equipment?

take  look at the Akois reels.  They have brake blocks and mags.  I have 4 akios sports mags.

 one  555,   2 of the 656, and one 666.

very nice throwing reels.  very similar to the Abu 6500's in design.
