Bought this Hydros line from Orvis and used maybe a half dozen times; the welding on the loop split. Any thoughts on fixing it or leaving it as is? Not sure the integrity will hold up with a schoolies. Never had this happen before, thanks

Look up on youtube “welding loops”, or, send back to Orvis, they’ll probably give you a new one.

Cut off the loop, form a new one by folding line over, two nail knots side by side with 15 or so pound mono, wrap over knots with tying thread, coat with pliobond or other flexible cement.

take a look at the topic I had recently on fly line loops.  There are a lot of good recommendations there.

I never liked braided loops for saltwater.

To much tension pull, salt, and other corrosive chemicals to loose their suppleness.

Give me a 30 lbs. mono with nail knot and perfect loop, spit lube and tighten with pliers any time.

Never had a failure if done right.

Nothing flies by me without a hook!

Cut that garbage off and install a braided mono loop.  Never trust factory loops. . . never.

Some of this is dated due to new materials (UV Knot Sense for instance) but may be helpful.  Also, I typically like a little more length than 12cm of braid.

Currently have aphasia.    Aphasia is a result of my head stroke causing a bleed.   Happened in my Maine vacation in July (2021).   Lucky me less than 1% of people get stroke aphasia.  :(      I'm making project but have been told this is easily 5 months to 1 year for this to improve.   Until then hope you don't mind making sense with what I text.   HT

Or just leave it intact, wrap the entire weld tightly with mono thread then coat with flexible UV epoxy. There’s really no need to cut it.

I agree, I wouldn't cut it either.
