I just had to make this same decision and tiderunner 100%

Anyone who takes just one minute to use the search function here will find dozens of threads with hundreds (thousands?) of posts.

I'll leave it to the OP from here.

Picked up a tiderunner after reading this thread and couldn’t be happier.

I do not know of a single angler who bought a Tiderunner and was disappointed.

I am just putting this out there for people who might just be starting out, or maybe very short on money. 3 years ago I began using a run of the mill leather belt and it has held up just fine. IDK what metal the buckle is made of, but corrosion has been minimal. The belt gets soaking wet about 120x/yr. Twas essentially free because I already had the belt.

Also, on this belt, I've placed a leather hammer loop. It has also held up fine (some corrosion on rivet that hold loop to leather) and is a great cheap way to support my rod when both hands are needed and also I clip my gripper to the loop and the lanyard for the grip also is attached to the loop ($7)

I buy better/expensive gear when I can/need to. Some of my cheap solutions have not needed upgrading

Best Surf belt!  Have had mine for about 4-5yrs now.  No rust on the buckle.  Just rinse after every outing.

My Tiderunner is lucky to get rinsed every 5-8 outings during the season.  Still no evidence of rust.

Already been mentioned a dozen times here but...  :deadhorse:

I'll toss in another vote for the tiderunner.. bulletproof belt.. made in the USA.  And dealing with Steve is a pleasure.

Going to cost you a little more but you can check out Flatlander, picked one up last year and love it. Jamie is awesome to deal with.
