it looks like today is the day

Well, after church and an errand or three, looks like my kayak will get it's first trip this afternoon..   Cloudy and high 60's with 5 mph wind is the forecast at the lake.

My simple goals are:

 - the kayak stays on top of my car while i'm on the road

 - I don't leave anything home that i need

 - I get the kayak unloaded and launched in less than 30 minutes from arrival at the landing

 - I am flexible enough to reach the rods behind me in the crate and

 - catch something.

i have a funny feeling the last goal may be the easiest.  LOL

Stay tuned for a report.

Practice swinging yourself side saddle if you're having trouble reaching behind you

Well....  I completed all goals except the catching a fish part.  Did get shortlined by a bass that came out of a submerged tree and tried to relieve me of my spinnerbait.   About jerked the rod out of my hand and I didn't get a hook in it.  I'll say it was 9#'s

  Lol

On the good side I had a blast.  All my equipment worked great and loading, unloading and all that went flawlessly.

Thanks for all the advice

Next time tie it down in the front and the back, much more stable and safer.

Yeah.  I'm very lazy and realize that is something I need to add.   Only travel about 20 mins to the lake

When you slam on your brakes and your kayak torpedoes out that will be the longest 20 minutes of your life.
