The report in the recent Cape Cod Times illustrates the dangers of taking cannabis in any form. Three deaths were tied to those taking edibles prompted the study . Emergency room records show a three fold increase in marijuana cases , since the state became the first to allow sales of recreational marijuana The main concern is with increased availability and higher THC concentrations 'we may be seeing more adverse drug reactions "  It further states that the cannabis industry promotes the drug as a cure all while down playing the dangers. It also still notes that the United States Government still considers marijuana illegal.

The analysis said edibles are too dangerous to be part of the recreational market place , Slow to kick in their effects last to long for a party drug , but will work better for those who want to use them for medicine Some of the symptoms showing up in the hospital include repeating vomiting, racing hearts, psychotic episodes . As  a result of the this latest finding A doctor Volkow , the director of the National Institute on Drugs call for more research on the benefits and harms of marijuana. She indicated that an urgent need for greater oversight of manufacturing and labeling as marijuana use increases with state legalization .

If this report is taken seriously , some souls searching will need to be done for the long term safety of those who will use it long term recreationally

Still better than the effects of too much alcohol - doing incredibly stupid things you'll never in your entire life live down, waking up with a beast that a few hours previous you thought was a breathtakingly beautiful woman , and possibly death.

I personally know three people that almost died of alcohol overdoses - no one has ever ODed on weed

Inhaled marijuana caused the most severe problems, but edibles lead to three deaths?!

What's more severe than death?!

Sudsy according to this latest report three people died as a result of taking marijuana or at least were tied to it some how . One can say that with out question many more have died from alcohol overdoses . This report has taken that into account , and that is why they want to do more as was indicated in the Cape Cod Times to assure that it will be safer for recreational users in the states that have made it legal for such use

They died just from taking edibles? Was alcohol/other drugs also involved?

Or did their actions after they took edibles cause their death?

Here you go The title is called Cannabis ER visits in Denver Study  By Carla K Johnson { the Associated Press]

"In 2012, the ER saw an average of one patient every other day with a marijuana-caused problem. By 2016, the count was two to three per day."

I'd bet fishing causes more trips to the ER than this!

"The study, published Monday in Annals of Internal Medicine, stemmed from tales of tourists needing emergency care after gobbling too many marijuana gummies."

Whole piece is very poorly written. I have no doubt that reported ER visits increased for people who took to much weed, but believe it's due to it's legal status and people no longer being scared to admit that they consumed it.

I would guess yes, but it's tough to tell because they don't leave their marijuana remnants in the rocks, nor yell obnoxiously!

Seriously though, of course people smoke at the Canal.  This whole thread is extremely misleading.  Vomiting is the main reason for ER trips, and it's only two per day.  Without numbers cited, you are to assume it's many more people for multiple reasons.

EVERYTHING can be dangerous for you.  Many legal things are bad for you, it's up to you to determine how much of anything you can take.  Drinking a glass of wine is widely recognized as beneficial to your health.  Drinking a 5th of Vodka everyday, not so much...Not to mention cigarettes, and caffeine.

States don't care about possible negative side effects.

They only see a revenue stream.

It's just like they care about tobacco use.
